What to Expect

Evaluations and Initial Consults typically last around 60-75 minutes, and take place virtually, in- office, or in your home.

  • If being seen at home, Jacqueline's visit will feel informal and comfortable (no need to tidy up!). It will begin with an in-depth parent interview to learn more specific information.

  • For feeding evaluations it includes gathering a thorough medical and feeding history, assessing oral structures and function, and doing a feeding.

  • After the interview, she will spend time observing your child, and then an assessment will be completed. Specific assessments are chosen to help identify your child's strengths, as well as to distinguish areas in which support may be warranted.

Together, we will make sure you’re comfortable with your plan of action going forward, depending on your goals.  After the visit, Jacqueline is available for follow up questions via email as you implement your treatment plan.

Once the Evaluation is completed, therapy can begin!

  • Direct speech and language therapy usually takes place once a week in 45-minute sessions.

  • For later talking toddlers a 12 week episode of care is generally recommended, followed by a break to generalize skills and assess progress.

  • Feeding therapy is typically scheduled every other week for 2-6 session episodes of care, with follow up to target future milestones as needed. Some infants are seen weekly until a stable feeding plan is established.

Research shows us that babies and children learn new skills fastest when calm, happy, and engaged in play, therefore all therapy is play-based/cue based, responsive, and engaging for children of all ages.
